Richmond Flying Squirrels Ticket Contest

We hope everyone is staying as cool as possible. It’s been a rough summer so far for many in the Richmond area and beyond.
We hope that this contest will bring some much needed FUN to the winner!

As a Summer ‘thank you’ we are giving away a 4 pack of tickets to the Flying Squirrels game tomorrow night - complete with fireworks!

So if you missed the display on Brown’s Island last night (it was great by the way - Thank you Richmond!) and can’t get to any tonight, this is a fun opportunity.

Just tell us you favorite thing to do on the 4th in Richmond and you are entered for a chance to WIN.

Email us, comment here on our Tumblr, post it on our facebook, or our twitter… enter how ever you like.

Artist Driven with Pose

rvastreetart:

Watch Pose and Sever work a wall they were commissioned to do in Atlanta in 2011 for a co-op wall project. Time-elapsed video over 4 days watches a wild 60 foot wall come to life. You won’t believe how they freehand this entire mural into what it becomes….

Nice!  Does bring back memories…
tgfucustomframing:

Music has the power to move us in time. How many times have you heard an old song and found yourself instantly recalling where you were, who you were with, and what you were doing when you first heard it?
Framing old records, concert tickets, and even your favorite old radio can help you share and enjoy those memories every time you see them on the wall. Maybe they’ve been replaced by your iPod, but there’s no reason they can’t still bring a smile to your face!

Mural on Hull Street

hhrva:

This  in-progress mural (1202 N. Hull Street) is being done by Pixel Poncho as part of the G40 Art Summit. Murals are popping up all over town, mainly on the other side of the river, so it’s nice to see a neglected part of town get some art love.  Larger pictures of the mural can be found on Flickr, including closeups of each section.

Enjoy a day filled with local music, food, shopping, design discussions and activities located around the 14th Street, Turning Basin and Virginia Street.

The facebook event page has info on the other participants and their exciting events.

What is Frame Nation presenting?

Join us from 10:00am-4:00pm We will feature 19th century architecture/American industry related ephemera, vintage motif frame moldings and American made frame moldings with the Biltmore estate as the uniting element.
On display will be a huge selection of American made frames, many from the northwest region. The display will ‘show off’ these mouldings as they surround mirrors.

Larson Juhl, our premiere frame supplier, is a sponsor of our event. Part of their mission is to be sure products continue to made and sold in America, and employing Americans. Their commitment to global releaf is another way they continue this mission. And the product created is also beautiful!

The influence of the Biltmore effected American architecture and interior design even before it was completed. American architect, Richard Morris Hunt, designed the home and Frederick Law Olmsted was the chosen landscape architect. Both gentleman are considered Fathers of American design.

What is ephemera?  Here is an example…

The term ephemera often describes the class of published single-sheet or single page documents which are meant to  be thrown away after one use.  We have culled together selection of pieces related to American architecture, American Industry and some very interesting pieces on the Biltmore. Please join us and see these great examples of American made frame mouldings and excellence in opulent American architecture that is the Biltmore estate. …»

By special arrangement and for today only, FREE parking will be available in the CLUB ROUGE lots next to our building on the left.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Learn all about the ancient method of hand applying gold leaf to a surface. The art of water gilding is a tradition that has been passed down by talented art…

So much goes into these works of art. Thank you to Larson Juhl for creating this amazing video.
